Maui 2019 Part 1

Another year coming to Maui. We really enjoying coming and staying at the Ritz in Kapalua. The help there is so attentive and friendly and even the valet guy remembers us from last year and welcomed us “home”. Our first stop before arriving at the resort was to grab lunch at Tin Roof, good stuff, and since we were right there we went to Ululani’s. When we arrive at the resort we ended up deciding to go on a hike, something we did not do last time. We did a coastline hike and kinda got lost. Haha. All fun and good. We got some really cools pics though. After the hike we were all hot and a bit tired so we decided to get some frosty drinks. Yes! For dinner we were gonna have Sansei but got impatient eating in line so we ended going to Leoda’s, Banana Cream Pie. Enough said. 😉. On the way back to the resort I got a nice shot of the amazing sunset while driving back, do not try this at home. Check it out.

Finally! Now the hard part begins…

Well, after a stress filled week the Big One finally got her knee surgery. The original doctor had us convinced that he was going to be able to do the work as planned within our timelines. This did not come to fruition. Since the original practice he was part of went bankrupt he needed to join another and then get contacted by our insurance company or we would have to pay out of pocked as he would be labeled as out of network. Of course they did not tell us any of this until the day before she was scheduled to go in.

Being fed up with the run around and waiting, the Big One asked if we could find another doctor. We ended up going with the doctor that Uncle Keith used. Turned out we really liked him. Great bedside manor and was patient with all of our questions. When we asked how fast we can get her fixed he said we can probably do it tomorrow, otherwise we could do next week. Uh, tomorrow?! Yes please!

The procedure was successfully completed. He did have some issues trying to pull out her screws from the last time. He said they were so small that when he tried to extract them the heads broke off. He ended up needing to excavate them, causing more time. Even with all of that the surgery was completed in about two hours. The family had a long day waiting around, but super happy it is done.

When in recovery the Big One was a little loopy as expected. She was so hungry and thirsty. She drank two cans of apple juice and was stuffing her face with animal crackers. In her compromised condition she told us several times that the doctor poked her two times for her IV. Kinda funny.

Here some pics of the day.
